Beatitudes Study, Day 1
Join us over the next few weeks as we dig into the Scriptures to uncover the truths of the beatitudes, one by one.
Jesus begins the famous Sermon on the Mount by speaking the eight beatitudes. He begins here, with these eight lessons, changing our definition of blessing.
Blessed are the poor in spirit. Blessed are those who mourn. Blessed are the meek. Even, blessed are those who are persecuted.
Jesus knew how difficult these truths would be to live out, but promises blessing in return for obedience.
As we journey through these lessons together, what thoughts come to mind as we read that particular beatitude? What does that particular phrase say about God? About me? About others?
Today, we focus in on the first half of Matthew 5: 3, “Blessed are the poor in spirit,” with Scott Babin of Cenla S.A.M., and Will Travis of catholicmissionary.net.
